An Exciting, New Experiment

With experiments, all you are doing is exploring, and with exploring, you are doing and finding new things.  So here it is, welcome to Live Move Be in the city, an exciting, new experiment, to me, at least.

I guess with everything new, like meeting a stranger, it's nice and helpful to have a proper introduction.  Blogging/the online world are a bit of a stranger to me, as I've fairly recently started wandering around online more intently, particularly to explore and observe fashion blogs.  This blog will be many things I hope, but in short, it is dedicated to the exploration, desire, and passion of living urban life well through one person's holistic journey.  So many fancy words, I know.  As the blog unfolds, and I share through different blog series, you'll get the idea.  It will be a compilation of several things that I'm passionate about, the first of which that I'll start off with is a love for thrift stores, and vintage items.  And, just about my funny little life in South LA.

I work for an organization called World Impact that is dedicated to helping the urban poor, and have been a part of a movement in learning from and loving the urban community of South Los Angeles (emphasis on LEARNNG, as I have been majorly schooled for the past several years of living in this community).  World Impact's thrift store, The Sonshine Shop (SSS), is nothing short of awesome.  We receive incredible donations from amazing supporters all over Southern California.  In another blog entry, I'll tell you how you can donate to the SSS.  Also, stay tuned for a project that I'm helping with, lovingly called Sonshine Vintage!

Just a snippet of other things I'll be sharing on this blog (you'll see that I love lists):
  • Living simply in the city (a discipline and art, especially in Los Angeles!)
  • Amazing urbanites where I'll be highlighting the lives of some amazing folks that live and serve in Los Angeles
  • Fashion inspirations
  • Self-care including good local food, cheaps eats around the city, local organic co-ops, fitness (such as personal training, boot camp and yoga in the local parks, and more!)
  • Spiritual formation thoughts, reflections, and offerings from an urbanite Christian perspective
It won't just be my own voice, but I'd like other urbanites to contribute and share their voices, views, lifestyles, passions, etc. on this blog as well.  If you want to share, let me know!

Last but not least, the inspiration behind the name and spirit of this blog comes from the book of Acts in the Bible, chapter 27, verse 18 which says, "For in him we live and move and have our being."  My contributions in this blog will hopefully be a reflection of living fully in the Spirit here in South Los Angeles.  Until next time, peace!
